A week of packing and moving...

Its been about a week since my last post, but I have a good excuse!
I have been packing our home in Colorado to move to Arizona. A week's worth of packing and cleaning. I am over it. Thank God for my mother in law! She was there helping every step of the way. With out her I would have gone crazy,Brock was working the whole week so it would have been just up to me if she didn't come to the rescue!

After packing a 5 by 10 ft storage unit full of everything that we own (besides the things I brought with me to Arizona). Brock and I set off on the 10 hour journey through the mountains, desert, back through the mountains, down to the Valley of Phoenix. Oh, yes the dogs came with. So in my little BMW was packed with all of my things and us. Man!!! It was packed! Capone is not a "car dog". He gets very restless. Ruby on the other hand is content just sitting on your lap the whole time. When we went through Moab, Utah there was a big thunder storm. It was pouring! Ruby was scared because of the thunder, she tried hiding under the drivers seat. The rest of the trip was hot until we got to Flagstaff (which felt like Vail...about 75 and sunny!). Flagstaff if beautiful! Not as pretty as Vail though. Then we made our final decent to the Phoenix area. It was 98 degree's at 9 o'clock at night! Brock and I just kept asking each other what we were thinking.

All that matters is that we arrived safe and sound. God guided us to my new home. I am so thankful for his presence during our trip.

Now, Its 9:12 am in sunny Arizona. I woke up at about 7:45 am and the outside temp was about 78 degree's. It now 84! The heat comes fast here. It is supposed to be 100 today! We will see how Brock and I do with the heat. That is the biggest part that scares me about living here. Not only for us...but for our dogs. They LOVE being outside, but with the extreme heat I will look out for their well being before fun!

So for now...talk to you later. I will let you know how our first day goes here in our new home!

4th of July

Good Morning !

Here in Vail the 4th of July is the BUSIEST day (weekend) of the whole year. Yes, it even beats the winter days of fun! Brock and I both had to work the whole weekend and didn't get to do much other than watch fireworks. Every year since I have lived here in Colorado I have been out of town on the 4th. Considering this was my last holiday here in this great place Brock and I both wanted to stay put in our little town and be part of the madness. We both work with "gapers" (tourist) all day long so we just wanted to be as relaxing as possible.

Sunday...We both worked all day long and it was craziness at my work. I didn't get a break or even a chance to eat...by 2:00pm I was feeling very weak. Brock came into my work just to say hello and I told him that I feel like I might pass out. He told me to eat some food and take a break, but there was no way that I could have with all the guests constantly asking questions. I got to the point where I thought I was going to pass out. I called a person from another department to come over and help me out so that I could sit down and "refuel". After sitting there for awhile and getting a hold of my manager I needed to leave. Brock came and got me from work because I didn't feel safe driving home. From about 3:00pm until 9:00pm I laid on the couch and relaxed. Brock was non-stop busy at work and we had plans to go watch the Avon fireworks at the top of Davo's Trail (tip top of a mountain over looking the valley). After all that had happened earlier I didn't think I had the strength to do it. Brock came home with fruit and a ginger ale for me and packed me up in the jeep and we went. We met some friends and family at the top...we had friends in from Denver, local friends, and both of our brother's were up there as well. I ended sitting with Brock's brother Josh (they were quite a bit claimer than our friends). I ended up really feeling better and enjoying the fireworks. Brock had a great time as well because he got to off road the jeep on the way up.

Monday....The REAL 4th. We both had to work early that day as well. At my work we had a BBQ, pool games, eating contest, and popsicle's for the guests and I got to get away from the desk and help with everything. My second to last day on the job was one of the best. Brock and I both got off of work and watched a movie together to relax. After a shower and some time with the dogs we decided to get some food before the fireworks. My little brother Mat and our friend Brian ended up coming to dinner. It was nice having dinner with Mat because I will miss him so very much. My brother and I are 15 months apart and are very close. After dinner we went back to our house to get the dogs. Capone, Ruby, and Nike (my brother's dog) all came with us. Capone is 70 lbs and doesn't like skateboards & bikes so when we got to the village of course there were many of both...he was a little crazy at first and then really claimed down, but we still had to see how all three of the pups were going to do with the fireworks. We sat outside of the crowds to give the dogs some room....then the first big POP came and the smell of fireworks came next. Ruby freaked out! She was so scared that she ran behind me and tucked her nose into my back. I ended up taking my hoodie off and wrapping her in it. She was shaking like a leaf. Capone was GREAT!!!!!! He just looked up in the sky and watched the whole thing. My little pup is growing up. Brock and I were so happy everything turned out well.

Welcome

Welcome to my little place in the world to share my life! I am new to the blogging world so please go with the flow. I have started this blog to keep  family & friends up to speed on whats going on in the simple life of Holly & Brock. We are also relocating from Colorado to Arizona very soon. I thought this is a great and positive way to share things.

Here is a quick intro of our small family....
Brock is the man of this household. He is my amazing husband and best friend. He loves off roading in our jeep, snowboarding, fly fishing with his brothers, and our dogs  (they will be introduced later). Holly (me)...I am the wife. I love spending time with family, running, shopping (what women doesn't?), talking on the phone with my loved ones that are far away, and of course our dogs. Capone is a Pit bull (I know what you are thinking...a pit bull why would someone own a dog of that breed?) He will change whatever bad assumtion you may have about his breed. He loves kids, licking your face, and sleeping in with you. He is dark brown and they most handsome 70 pound baby you will ever meet. Ruby is a Jack Russel/Chihuahua mix. She is white with tan spots. She loves playing, teasing Capone when he is on his leash, and food. Love in an understatement with food. Our dogs are our children and always will be. Brock and I are brought so much happiness by their presence.

On to the subject of relocating to Arizona...
I know its a million degree's there. I have been told that more times than I can count I think. Brock and I have been married since last Labor Day...we have been thinking about moving since before we tied the knot. I am blessed to be able to transfer all over the world with my current company, so I decided to apply all over the U.S. and see where I recieved job offers from. I applied all over the southern east coast and Arizona. After waiting and doing an interview that didn't go as well as I had hoped. I got a call from a GREAT place in Arizona. They wanted me to fly out right away for an interview, but because of family gatherings and work I couldn't. I had lost hope once I told them it wouldn't be possible. A couple of days later I recieved a call that they wanted to do a phone interview (which this company NEVER does) and I did the interview later that day. At the end they offered me the job (which also NEVER happens right away) at the same pay as where I live now. BTW....I live in a place where the cost of living is VERY VERY high...so getting paid the same and getting to keep our bennifits was great! After a long talk as man and wife we decided why not? We don't have children yet (knock on wood) and we are young. Almost a month later here I am packing a house and 5 years of memories in one of the most beautifil places God has created.

Wow, That was a lot all at once. Thanks for reading along!
Have a great & safe 4th of July weekend.

~Holly.
